Nat serves as outside general counsel to a number of businesses and non-profit organizations. From choice of entity and raising capital, through commercialization to eventual succession or sale, he helps entrepreneurs grow their businesses and make a lasting impact for their families and the community. He regularly provides advice on employment agreements and noncompetes and assists in the preparation and negotiation in a number of commercial contracts. For non-profits, he helps with formations, IRS applications, governance and fundraising compliance, intermediate sanctions avoidance, risk management, and all other issues in the life of a tax-exempt organization. He has particular expertise in the unique legal issues of religious entities, including churches, private schools, and para-church ministries. As a former litigator, he can make realistic risk assessments and does not shy away from difficult negotiations. His broad experience helps him anticipate and avoid problems before they become expensive headaches for the client. He has been voted a “Rising Star” six times by the readers of Super Lawyers.

Nat serves on the Washington State Bar Association’s nonprofit corporations committee. He is an elder in his church, one of the founding board members of the Children’s Law Center of Washington, a volunteer lawyer at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission legal aid clinic, and president of his fraternity’s alumni association. Married to another lawyer, he has two daughters and a son and enjoys spending time with his family, learning new things, getting outside, reading, and watching the Seahawks and Huskies.
