Representative matters:
- Our client had been operating a successful Christian school for nearly 20 years when it was notified that it did not have the proper approval required by the State. Initially, the State indicated it would require the school to close its doors. We negotiated with the State to allow the school to remain open while it applied for approval. We also helped the school determine what regulations applied and how best to continue its operation. This included advising the school on temporary and permanent options including home schooling, extension and private schooling options; preparing the appropriate policies for students, parents and employees; developing teacher contracts; and assisting the school complete the appropriate application forms. The school is now fully approved by the state and the school continues to experience success.
- Our client, a large private school, learned that one of its employees engaged in inappropriate sexual relations with a student. We assisted the school in investigating the incident including interviewing students, parents and employees. The school was able to avoided a lawsuit over the incident. We also revised the school's student, parent, and employee policies to guard against future incidents.
