Immigration

We offer a broad range of services to foreign citizens and employers who wish to employ foreign citizens. We assist in obtaining all types of employment and family based temporary and permanent visas. We also represent clients before Immigration Courts, and assist immigrants applying for naturalization.

ELM lawyers who practice immigration law:

Representative matters:

  • Attained H-1B approval for Localization Editor at a 25-person company providing multilingual software translation services in over 35 languages. The successful employee's language fluency and advanced degree in Computer Systems provided the exact skill set the employer sought for the position.

  • A client faced deportation by the Immigration Court for aggravated felony and inadmissibility charges based on a prior conviction many years earlier. After serving his time, he turned his life around, regained the trust and love of his family, and earned the respect of his community by counseling pastors in over 60 churches. He also started five self-sustaining churches serving disadvantaged populations. Our firm helped the client obtain a rare full and unconditional pardon from the Governor, with favorable exercise of prosecutorial discretion. With the pardon, we then successfully persuaded the Immigration Court to dismiss the removal proceedings.

  • We assisted clients seeking a spousal visa and adjustment of status from war-torn Iraq. Our staff provided individualized attention to help the couple cope with their unique hardships and, most of all, prepare proper visas for the immigrant spouse to move to the U.S.

  • Our firm helped our multi-national corporate client bring a highly skilled service engineer to work in the U.S. as an intra-company employee. The L-1B petition was approved upon showing that the employee's experience with the company's European affiliate, rigorous training abroad, and in-depth knowledge of the client's specialized product made him uniquely qualified for the position.
