- We represented an injured seaman who suffered serious and permanent injuries on the job from a blow to the head by an 8-pound cleat, swinging from the end of a snapped line. We obtained a substantial lifetime structured recovery for him. He was comatose for approximately a month and since has required full time care. Following the settlement, we have monitored his situation through fifteen annual accountings and have coordinated various major events in his life, including the purchase and sale of his own residence, the licensing and appointment of his father as a permanent care giver, and the consent to the adoption of his minor child.
- We represented a commercial long haul trucker who sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision with another trucker. Defendants had offered a nominal settlement amount because the jury verdict history in this particular county in Montana was so low. After a jury trial in Montana state court, the jury awarded our client a substantial verdict that was the highest in the history of the county, and included virtually every sum requested by our client. The verdict was appealed, but was upheld by the Montana Supreme Court. We obtained an additional recovery for our client in a related case against the defendant's insurance company for bad faith in delaying payment of the jury verdict.
- We represented a widow and her four minor children in a wrongful death case arising out of a multiple fatality accident. We served as lead counsel in the case, which involved more than 5 plaintiffs lawyers, and succeeded in obtaining for our clients a very substantial settlement.
- We represented a young woman who was a victim of sexual assault by a professional athlete. The incident was highly publicized, and we were involved in negotiations that had to factor in the criminal prosecution of the defendant. We obtained a substantial settlement for our client, which included payment by a professional sports franchise. At the request of the client, throughout the proceedings we zealously and successfully protected her identity from the press.
- We were extensively involved in the e coli litigation of the early and mid-1990's. We obtained a settlement of several million dollars for one of the e coli victims, a teen ager who was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. The recovery was set up as a lifetime structured settlement.
- We represented the widow and children of a man killed in a logging truck accident. We were successful in obtaining for them a settlement that was the largest monetary settlement at that time in Yakima County.
