Andy joined the firm in 1994. He counsels others in decisions related to wills, trusts, family partnerships, business succession and a host of related matters, including the ever-changing estate and gift tax. He also maintains a significant business practice, supporting owners with their various legal needs, like formation, mergers and acquisitions.
Andy is passionate about philanthropy. He loves to create charitable giving arrangements in connection with the sale of significant assets, such as business interests or real estate. These arrangements often produce tremendous tax savings and freedom for his clients to be generous with the causes they care about. He is a frequent lecturer on these and other topics.

Born and raised in Seattle, Andy loves this city. He is a student of its early history, the pioneers and the Duwamish tribe. In 1999 Andy led the effort to start a no-cost legal aid clinic for the poor at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. For 16 years thereafter he served on the board of the Mission, half of them as its chairman.
Andy is founder of the National Christian Foundation Seattle, an affiliate of one of the nation’s largest charities. NCF Seattle helps generous people in this region simplify their charitable giving and multiply the impact of their gifts.
Andy is heavily involved in the emergence of a nonprofit sector in China, fueled by the rise of philanthropy. He travels to Asia regularly in his roles as China Representative of The International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy and as chairman of Global Generosity Foundation (Hong Kong).
He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle, the Seattle Philanthropic Advisors Network, the Probate & Trust section of the Washington State Bar Association and the Christian Legal Society.
